Rooms were good and clean. However, the situation is rather bad. At least if you arrive without your own car and rely on public transport. Unfortunately, I made a mistake when booking, as there is a hotel with a similar name in the city center.

Very nice bed, but, a few issues that should be addressed. The light switch in the bathroom is loose, and the chance of electrocution is high. The power points in the kitchen area say to use only one point at a time. To me, that means a problem with power leaking, so, again, chances of electrocution is high. And the 4 way power point near the bed was taped up with gaffer tape!! Not good!! My wife uses a CPAP machine, and the power went off numerous times during the night due to the faulty power point. While it was a budget room, and we didn’t expect gold plated taps, we believe that safety is paramount.

Owner's Reply: "Hi Rusden did you contact reception or someone regarding hot water as We had 10 more rooms booked no one had any issue. Room had new carpet,Painted 3 months ago what was falling apart ? Fridge, Microwave, kettle, Toaster,Tea coffee, cutlery everything is in the room what else you lacking. And $99 for twin room on weekend is still overpriced ?" My Reply: The hot water was hot, but wouldn't work beyond a trickle because the handle popped out of the wall whenever you turned it. The carpet may have been new and the paint fresh but the shelves and cupboards were covered in dust, as was the filter of the heater. One of the windows wouldn't close, the towel rail was falling out of the wall, and the bucket you provided to wash up in was too big to fit under the tap in the bathroom because the basin is so small, meaning you had to fill it up in the shower, which guess what, didn't have any hot water. A hostel has better amenities and is a third of a price.

A distinct level of carelessness where cleanliness, presentation and dignity are concerned. Poor management, one is made to feel a burden for a high price, and the 'caretaker' is problematic at best when interacting with clients and staff. Far too personal, and a bullish, overbearing nature. That aside the site could do with a complete renovation as everything is falling apart and hastily reformed to give a veneer of almost suitable. No stars. I saw fireworks when I left. All the credit goes to the cleaner who arrives every Monday. She is not only a credit to the business but a professional in every way. She should be congratulated.

I have been a guest of the Tollgate Motel for the past one week, and have nothing but positive comments - (in relation to the excellent hospitality of the owners, quality and cleanliness of the rooms provided, free wi-fi and excellent value for money. Further, the Motel is within very close proximity to the CBD, with nearby convenience shops, such as OTR, Hungry Jacks etc.... Close to bus stop(s)... Also, it is excellent value for money. You couldn't stay in a better place if you're coming to Adelaide :)

So the customer service was great. Friendly and pleasant. But the rooms were... not great. I booked 2 rooms and the first was fine. Netflix, decent heater, nice beds and brightly painted. I had to connect the TV aerial but that's no big deal. My room however was a family room in which the heater sort of worked but very slowly, the TV sort of worked but had no Netflix and after 5 mins lost sound, the bathroom sink hot tap had to be turned on before the shower water got hot and that took 3 mins, the toilet had suffered a bout of explosive diarrhoea by the previous guest and wasn't cleaned properly and it was noisy from the freeway it is next to. So on one hand it was ok for the 8 hours I had to sleep there but on the other hand I could have gotten the same pleasure from sleeping in my car. Again, dude was friendly enough but the place needs some work.

Its fantastic for cheap weekly rates. Self contained kitchen with all the amenities. Rooms are rather spacious

The Good: Room overall was clean. Fresh clean bedding. Small fridge. Toaster. Kettle. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar sachets with tiny single serve milk. TV mounted on wall. We had room with spa. Which worked great. Ac worked great. Bit noisy. But nothing major. Bed was super comfy. Was reasonably cheap. So I got what I paid for. The Bad: rust in the bathroom. Around bottom of sink. No exhaust fan. Is that bad? Window was old fashioned louvres that opened up alot. People walking past could easily see in. Also shower entrance was super tiny. Wouldn't want to be plus sized you would not fit.TV didn't have adaptors for media player or gaming console to watch anything other than free to air TV. Not a smart TV. Not a huge deal. But we were there for a relaxing chill weekend out of the house. Support a local kind of thing. The ugly: piles of broken furniture and pulled up carpet outside our room. Permanent resident got loud and complained about someone taking "her" space. Yes there were allocated spaces. With lines marked for her space. But none for the room we was in. Just a half A4 sized piece of paper saying Room ... parking space. Hard to see. Other Permanent resident enjoyed trying to look into our room through the window. Not at all wheelchair friendly. All rooms had a step or more to get to. Entrance to office had 2 steps. Ended up leaving early cause not comfortable with some conditions. Either of us. Overall 4/10. Stay at your own risk.

Seemed sketchy..... Checked into a room relatively close to the office, however, the WIFI was very poor and I had a conference call that required a decent WIFI signal. After I was unable to secure a room with a better WIFI signal, I left this place and went to Glenelg....... Can't say it's a terrible hotal, but if I had kiddos, it's probably not a place I'd rather stay for a few days.

Disgusting dirty room We checked into our room after 15 minutes there we found the air conditioning not working the tv was not working properly the beds looked as if they just remade the beds after the last customers we ended up not staying here and checked out 15 minutes after we checked in Disgusting and rundown rooms and service is terrible

No words, this place is horrible. I've stayed in dodgy places all over the world, this one takes the cake. Highway noise, faulty and noisy electrics, garbage around everywhere, sloping parking, no reception phone the list is extensive of just how bad this place is. AVOID

Looking for a budget place to stay and laid back friendly service book here. I got to check in early and pay later when my money came through. Definitely good for those not needing much and very affordable with the all the basics you need in a room. Will certainly stay again when travel to Adelaide next time 😊
