Terrible service, waiting in line for one hour, only 3 staff working at counters but all very slow. When I got served, she couldnā€™t help scan my barcode for my parcel to return, I had to wait all over again at back of que while I got to my emails for the barcode needed. So unfair, she should have said to come back to her once I find barcode needed but she said to go back in line. Iā€™m not sure I will go there again due to this bad treatment. Nice historical building but workers are not great.

One star is for the location convenience. Another one satr is for some ataffs are showing positive side. However, my experience lately with this place was very poor, rude staff, not helpful. With a inquiry today, I did not even finish my enquiry at the counter and she just walked away and did her other stuffs without letting me know and never walked back for service. Just left me there with speechless. I felt very disappointed. Besides language barrier, She seems very inpatient about my questions and didn't show understandable about my concern on a mail that I have paid and sent it with this post nearly a month ago, and yet it hasn't been delivered so far. This place on location is great with historical architecture. But I am just surprised what happened.

They couldn't help me with the correct postcode for a letter I was sending......they are a post office! No book to look it up in so they attempted to do it online and said there was no such suburb! Had to google it myself at home. Yes surprise that suburb does exist and has a postcode.

Terrible service. I came here to have passport photos taken and was appalled by the service. It was rushed, despite there being only one other customer and plenty of staff on. I was unhappy with the photo, with how I looked, but also because the lighting was bad and it was a bit blurry. I returned a couple of days later, with the receipt, to have it taken again. Again, it was not busy, but the staff refused to take it again, unless I paid again, and showed no concern for customer satisfaction and treated me as though I was being petty. I will not return here and will advise others to take their business elsewhere. The South Hobart PO and Sandy Bay PO both have wonderful staff, and I hear the staff at Bathurst St are also very helpful and pleasant.

Honestly, the worst Post Office I have ever come across. November 2021 I visited with the intent of purchasing a parcel box with the ā€œIf it Packs, It Postsā€ national flat rate postage. I quickly located the box, which had the prepaid postage price clearly displayed on the shelf. On arrival at the counter, I was greeted by an absurdly disinterested staff member who was entirely ignorant of the very existence of flat rate postage for parcels, insisting that I would have to purchase the empty box, and return with it packed in order to calculate postage by weight. I patiently explained the concept to him, and even had the product on the Australia Post website. He simply declared that he didnā€™t know about it because he was new, so he couldnā€™t do it. He then made a half-hearted attempt to ask two other staff members, both of whom completely ignored him, before rather impatiently repeating that I would have to come back and have the items weighed so he could calculate postage. Having been talked to in a rough and frankly condescending manner, I left but could not believe that not only do the staff not know of their own products, but that staff did not support each other between customers. I would have ordinarily waited back in the queue for another staffer but as their service was atrocious, I left. Following this bafflingly incompetent service, I walked to the Australia Post outlet on Bathurst St, where the friendly and competent staff member handled the ā€œIf it Packs, it postsā€ transaction in seconds. GPO Hobart needs to get their act together and have a rethink about customer service. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place or lower your expectations accordingly.
