If you say closing time is 5:00 pm, stick to 5:00 pm. Closing the entrance door at 4:30 pm doesn't mean 5:00 pm is the closing time. Misleading information!!

I came in to lodge a passport application at 4.42pm. Was told that it takes twenty minutes, which would take them through to 5.02pm so lodging an application was not possible. Very unhelpful staff.

Australia Post service is variable. Ask them for a postage stamp and you should be ok. Ask them to check your ID for an Australia Post debit card and they go blank, or look slightly worried and start to repeat the 'go away mantra' of 'We cannot provide financial advice'. If your service request is basic you'll probably be successful. If your service request requires thought then good luck, the outcome may not be assured.

Staff was very demeaning especially when I was trying to send multiple small parcels to different locations. One lady said I could use registered post but then another guy said I can’t. Was very confusing and misleading. Had to go back and forth from the wall and the front counter 4 times. Incredibly frustrating experience.

Was just in there today (Oct 16th 2019) to send 3 parcels to Norway and the staff was delightful. Incredibly helpful finding out if my goods could be sent (in case of restrictions), finding me boxes and helping me fill out the forms. Always smiling, always cheerful, even cracking some jokes and generally being pleasant and professional. (I am a Norwegian tourist here on holiday)

Being a customer of this GPO when in Adelaide for over twenty years I've got to say the staff are usually great. I mean it's a post office, not a Mercedes dealership, no one is going to offer you a hipster coffee while you wait. And the building is definitely one of the grandest Victorian buildings in town. To the negative reviewers, if you are the type of person that needs to post a bad review about a post office, perhaps you are not coming across with an attitude that makes people want to help you. And the passport instructions definitely do say not to glue the photo, dummy.

This beautiful building is worth a visit; a great backdrop to a photograph and a regular meeting place for many. The Australia Post service has been downgraded over decades as email and messaging has developed but you can still send mail and packages. Much of the process of mail sorting is done by robots but at the customer counter you will be faced by a person. Quite often I have found the service a little less than friendly leaving me to wonder what pressures lay beyond the restricted Staff Only signs. Check the bargains on display, you can often grab a reasonably priced gift.

Maybe two of the staff that work here are nice and friendly to customers. The rest are incredibly rude, abrupt, and seem to have no patience for people who speak English as a second language. Not unexpected for an organisation with Australia Post's reputation, but still very disappointing to see in person.

Cannot believe that you can't buy a postcard of Adelaide from the GPO in the dead centre of Adelaide. There are a few others to choose from, including 2018 Commonwealth Games from the Gold Coast in Qld... But not a single photo of Adelaide. Not even an apology, just "this is what they send us". Shame on you Aussie Post.

I went in trying to return a laptop that I bought, I told the lady behind the counter that it is a prepaid postage. She rudely replied " it doesn't help me, I need an adress" after she took her time fondling with the barcode clearly on the package she asks me to come back again. Literally stupefied after wasting my time with her, I went to the aus post down the rundle mall to finally get things done. Terrible attitude to someone not familiar with how pre paid postage works and genuinely trying to get things done.

Is ok, they are usually nice, except the one time I went in there wanting four replacement stamps (since I had mail returned back to me instead of to the recipients) and instead, they gave me two Official Mail envelopes that I then have to post from that particular GPO, pretty inconvenient when they could have just replaced the stamps...
