Delivery Centre" is a name steeped in irony. What they mostly deliver is a card which would suggest they got as far as your driveway before they lost enthusiasm for the job and maybe you can pick-up your parcel from them some time in the future. In my experience they seem to operate on a "if you want it come get it" approach. The cards don't even have a reason why they don't deliver anymore - I can only suppose this is because they were prevented from printing "We just don't want to" on it. It's never actually because we weren't home (because we were and they didn't bother to find out) or because there is no safe location (because if they don't get down from the van how would they possibly know?). In the end I suppose they've already been paid for the service, so whether they actually complete the service or not probably comes down to personal and corporate ethics - and we all know what that is like in privatised ex-govt services.
