This is an amazing place I’ve been going here for the past 6 years of my life. There are plenty of fish to pick from and the owner nick is one of the nicest guys I’ve met helping me set up new tanks or buying new fish. I visited this store recently and and have gone past it for many years but it never occurred to me to go inside. I would say that my knowledge of fish is surface level at best. I am almost completely ignorant on the intricacies of breeding fish,looking after fish and the associated tasks that come with it. This however was of little importance as three different staff in a short space of time came up to me while browsing and asked can I help you? this has already left me with a positive impression. It shows that they are passionate and that they are attentive. They were also very friendly and all too obliging to talk to me about even the most basic, fundamental facts regarding fish. No question Felt silly or trivial and I got straight forward answers to all of my very basic questions. But the icing on the top of the cake was the sheer variety of fish species and tank products that they had, it's the biggest of any fish shop or pet shop that I've seen. (at least in the western suburbs) The staff here are driven. There are decades and decades of experience behind their expertise. The business itself if I recall correctly is over 20 years old, they live and breathe their expertise. Despite the sheer amount of tanks and products, the shop was easy to navigate and it did not feel overly clutched or disordered in any way, and it is conveniently located near the 7-Eleven and Hungry Jacks. I wouldn't say keeping fish is my hobby. I'm not sure I'll pick it up in the future, but I felt very welcome and it did not feel like they were gatekeeping or patronising you for your lack of knowledge. So if I ever did entertain the thought,this would be my first (and possibly only) stop. Good job folks! 😊

We went into store this weekend for fish to go into our aquarium. We were served by Kane & Lachie, who we found to be excellent with their advice & help with choosing the right fish. They were both very polite & helpful. We came away feeling very happy with our purchases which included a new tank and cabinet plus the fish we had originally gone in for. Highly recommend Fastway Aquarium.

Pricing might not be the most competitive in general but the fish and plants look very healthy and thriving - very well kept and clean. Plant selection is pretty good - probably one of the best in Melbourne. And the display tanks are so nice to look at. I wasn't interacting with the staff much but from what I observed they seem very knowledgeable and willing to go out of their way to help customers.
